Equine Intra-Articular Drugs - Buy Sodium Hyaluronate, Adequan, Pentosan
PENTOSAN EQUINE INJECTION is a sophisticated approach to the long term management of osteoarthritis in horses. Sodium pentosan polysulfate (PPS) is a linear polymer prepared from xylan, a complex hemicellulose extract of plant (Beechwood) origin. PPS is one of the sulfated heparinoid compounds. The heparin like anti-coagulant effects have been reduced and the anti-inflammatory fibrinolytic, and tissue tropic effects have been enhanced. PENTOSAN EQUINE INJECTION is equally effective by both intramuscular and intra-articular injection. Unlike traditional treatments, the unique effects of PENTOSAN EQUINE INJECTION promote healing and the restoration of a healthy joint, in addition to having a safe anti-inflammatory effect. PENTOSAN EQUINE INJECTION is equally effective when given by intramuscular or intra-articular injection. If intra-articular use is required, administer 1ml by sterile intra-articular injection. PENTOSAN EQUINE INJECTION has an affinity for cartilage, and active drug levels will accumulate for several days after administration.
Traumatic arthritis is a common cause of lameness in horses. One of different treatment alternatives of arthritis, is intra-articular injection with hyaluronan. Asknowledge about pathophysiology of arthritis and function of hyaluronan is increasing, understanding grows about the mechanism of hyaluronan action in joints. Hyaluronan has, in addition to effects on viscosity, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. HY-50 delivers a high dose of hyaluronate sodium in a small volume of injection. HY-50 is produced from a patented fermentation process utilizing state of the art purification techniques. This advanced manufacturing method of HY-50 ensures a safe and effective product free of pyrogens and animal origin proteins responsible for hypersensitivity reactions DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: The recommended dose of Hy-50 is 51 mg hyaluronate sodium in small or medium sized joints (carpus, fetlock) given by intra-articular injection. More than one joint may be treated at the same time. if necessary, the injection may be repeated after one or more weeks, but not to exceed 2 injections per week for a total of 4 weeks.
DEPO-MEDROL - These preparations are recommended for intramuscular and intrasynovial injection in horses. DEPO-MEDROL Sterile Aqueous Suspension is available in two concentrations. Methylprednisolone, an anti-inflammatory steroid synthesized and developed in the Research Laboratories of The Upjohn Company, is the 6-methyl derivative of prednisolone. Exceeding prednisolone in anti-inflammatory potency and having even less tendency than prednisolone to induce sodium and water retention, methylprednisolone offers the advantage over older corticosteroids of affording equally satisfactory anti-inflammatory effect with the use of lower doses and with an enhanced split between anti-inflammatory and mineralocorticoid activities.
ADEQUAN I.A. - Each milliliter of Adequan contains 250 mg of Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan and Water for Injection q.s. Sodium Hydroxide and/or Hydrochloric Acid added when necessary to adjust pH. Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan is chemically similar to the mucopolysaccharides of cartilaginous tissue. It is a potent proteolytic enzyme inhibitor and diminishes or reverses the processes which result in the loss of cartilaginous mucopolysaccharides. PSGAG improves joint function by stimulating synovial membrane activity, reducing synovial protein levels and increasing synovial fluid viscosity in traumatized equine carpal joints. |
